2nd Transnational Meeting of Climate Ambassadors in Valencia

2nd Transnational Meeting of Climate Ambassadors in Valencia

  • 18/04/2026

We held the second transnational meeting of the European Climate Ambassadors project in Valencia, which aims to equip university students with advanced technologies and skills to tackle climate-related crises.

The Polibienestar Research Institute at the University of Valencia hosted the project partners on 15 and 16 April.

The meeting focused on the work currently being carried out under Work Package 2. Each of the eight partners analysed three European, three national and three regional natural disasters, with the latter three being analysed in depth. In addition, the meeting discussed the project’s next steps, the dashboard, the platform, the e-booklet and future training activities.

Polibienestar organised a visit to a natural disaster site presenting a significant environmental challenge and chose the Albufera de Valencia for this purpose. The main problem there is eutrophication (or pollution caused by fertilisers or nutrients), resulting from pollution (fertilisers, wastewater and a lack of water renewal), which degrades water quality and the ecosystem. To address this, measures have been in place for many years, such as improving water treatment, increasing the supply of clean water and restoring the ecosystem (for example, through green filters or fish removal) to restore the lake’s quality.

About the project

Climate Ambassadors is a multidisciplinary project funded by the European Union that equips university students with advanced technologies and skills to tackle climate-related crises.

Through accredited intensive training that utilises advanced technologies, such as extended reality (XR) simulations, interactive digital learning tools and sessions led by experts — combined with in-person international events that foster community engagement and climate change preparedness — ‘Climate Ambassadors’ empowers young European students to become confident leaders and advocates for climate action.
