Polibienestar celebrates its sixth national meeting in Murcia with its associated units
The event was opened by Paloma Bragado, Vice-Rector for Health Sciences and Services to the University Community at the University of Murcia.
Jorge Garcés, Mari Paz García, former Dean of the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Murcia, and Samuel Baixauli Soler, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Murcia, focused their messages on thanking Pedro Sánchez Vera for his long professional career and his great personality.
The speeches, which were joined by Marcos Bote, moderator of the event, and the rest of the social work department, were a tribute to Pedro Sánchez Vera, who thanked everyone for their kind words and spoke highly of the research work carried out by the Polibienestar research institute.
Félix Requena, in addition to joining in the recognition of Pedro Sánchez Vera’s career, gave a lecture focusing on the social foundations of happiness, analysing the importance of studying happiness and the indicators that allow us to assess this condition of well-being in people.
Félix concluded by emphasising the importance of designing public policies that take into account indicators that analyse happiness in society, enabling the development of policies for social groups that show deficiencies in any of these indicators.
The first part of the conference, which focused on the tribute to Pedro Sánchez Vera and Félix Requena’s presentation, was closed by Rut Valdor, Vice-Rector for Research at the UM.
The second part of the conference consisted of a sharing of current research projects in the different units associated with Polibienestar (UJI, UNEX, UCM, UCLM, UM) and the University of Valencia itself (from the teams of Carolina Moreno and Jorge Garcés), as well as an exchange of ideas for working together on new projects.
