5 June, World Environment Day

  • 05/06/2024

Polibienestar joins World Environment Day by highlighting its commitment to the protection and sustainability of the planet through several research projects:
Firstly, the U-GARDEN project aims to promote urban gardens in various European cities. Urban gardens not only improve air quality and reduce the carbon footprint, but also foster social cohesion and social capital in local communities. Through U-GARDEN, green spaces will be created that benefit both the environment and society.
Another of our projects, Agro2Circular, focuses on the circular economy and seeks to transform agri-food waste and multilayer plastics into high added value products. Focused on the region of Murcia, this project aims to develop advanced technologies for the recycling and revalorisation of waste, thus reducing the environmental impact of the agri-food sector and promoting a more sustainable production model.
Also in the field of circular economy, the K-CCRI project aims to promote the circular economy in cities and regions of the European Union. K-CCRI works on the implementation of mentoring programmes, workshops and educational resources for communities to adopt circular and sustainable practices. In Valencia, for example, specific activities are being developed to support the transition to a circular economy in the municipality.
Finally, the HORUS project focuses on analysing the impact of the urban environment on health, specifically on the prevalence of non-communicable diseases such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. HORUS seeks to implement behavioural change interventions so that citizens, especially the most vulnerable, can make better use of their urban environment, reducing risky behaviours and improving their health. By improving the design and use of the urban environment, it also promotes a healthier and more sustainable environment.
At Polibienestar, we believe that every small action counts and that together we can make a big difference. On this World Environment Day, we renew our commitment to work towards a greener and more sustainable future.
