Europe Day and the Dancecare Project

Europe Day and the Dancecare Project

  • 09/05/2026

The Polibienestar Research Institute highlights the value of European initiatives that help improve citizens’ quality of life, particularly in key areas such as health, well-being and social inclusion. Today, 9 May, marks Europe Day, a date that commemorates peace, unity and cooperation among the countries of the continent.

In this context, Polibienestar wishes to highlight the more than 100 European projects it has managed over its 15 years of research. Today, this spirit of collaboration is reflected in programmes such as Erasmus+, Horizon, etc., which drive international projects focused on innovation, education and social cohesion.

At a time when Europe continues to face significant social and demographic challenges, it is essential to continue promoting initiatives that strengthen well-being, solidarity and the recognition of all people. Caring for those who care is, without doubt, a shared priority at European level.

Some recently completed projects, such as DanceCARE, are an example of how European cooperation can translate into concrete solutions to improve people’s lives, especially those of groups such as carers, who play an essential role in our societies. The European DanceCARE project stands as a clear example of the European Union’s commitment to social innovation and caring for people. Funded by the Erasmus+ programme, DanceCARE’s main objective is to improve the physical, emotional and social well-being of informal and semi-formal carers through methodologies based on Dance Movement Therapy and the WiseMotion approach.

Various studies have shown that carers, particularly those without professional support, experience high levels of stress, emotional overload and health problems arising from their work. This reality highlights the need to develop accessible and effective tools that contribute to their well-being and social recognition. DanceCARE responds to this challenge with an innovative approach that combines free online training, accessible via an e-learning platform, with face-to-face workshops led by dance movement therapy professionals. These activities are designed to promote the connection between body and mind, reduce stress and strengthen the resilience of those who carry out caregiving tasks, particularly in the field of care for older people.
