Digital training to protect children’s mental welfare during and after public health emergencies

  • 23/02/2022

The ProWell project is in an important phase, the design of the online training course for teachers and educators. This course aims to protect children’s mental wellbeing during and after public health emergencies through digital training for teachers and educators.

At the moment, the modules to be included in the training course have been defined and distributed among the partners (according to their experience, knowledge and skills) so that each one is responsible for the development. These modules are:

  1. Promoting communication skills
  2. Recognising mental health difficulties of children/adolescents relevant to emergencies and health crisis situations.
  3. Preventing and coping with mental health difficulties of children/adolescents relevant to health emergency crises.
  4. Learn how to organise and implement mental health interventions in the school setting.
  5. Promote the mental health and well-being of teachers during emergencies and health crisis situations.
  6. Digital literacy and the effect of media on mental health created by the health emergency crisis.
  7. General reference concepts for mental health problems (including country specific information).

The course will be available in 7 languages (English, Spanish, German, Croatian, French, Greek and Italian) and will be hosted on a digital platform. At least 140 teachers/educators (20 per partner country) are expected to complete the course through the platform in order to validate the contents and methodologies created.

The course design includes the development of theoretical and practical content, methodology and evaluation.
