Today’s open research session focused on the results of the Metaverse Academy Project, which will last for 3 years and has already been running for almost 1 year.
The presentation was given by Javier Sánchez García and Luis Callarisa Fiol from UJI and colleagues from Polibienestar, who shared fascinating findings on the adoption of XR technologies in educational and industrial settings, based on an extensive study covering 10 countries.
Some highlights include:
– Perceptions and expectations of more than 2,000 students about XR.
– Insights from 160 companies on the implementation of immersive technologies
– Key challenges and opportunities in XR integration
– Recommendations for closing the skills gap in immersive technologies
Javier Sánchez and Luís Callarisa have presented two important results obtained so far in the framework of the project. One qualitative and the other quantitative.
The first one gathers the needs analysis of 2,000 students on the integration of integrated reality in education. Recommendations, challenges, knowledge and use, competence gaps and perceived benefits are collected.
The conclusions on the challenges identified are:
– High costs
– Technical complexity
– Infrastructure requirements
– Cultural adaptation
– Regulatory uncertainty
– Ethical considerations
The project will continue to progress and to generate recommendations to reduce the skills gap in immersive technologies in education.
The next step will be an international meeting at the UJI in April 2025.
