Polibienestar redefines in three its lines of research

  • 11/12/2024

The Institute of Social Welfare Policies (Polibienestar) of the University of Valencia (UV), which specialises in public policies that improve the welfare of society through applied research, has redefined its lines of research into three main areas. These are health, sustainability and governance and, thirdly, innovation and inclusive education. The centre – which has participated in more than 100 European projects – is a member of numerous international networks and specialist committees.

Thus, in the area of health, it works on integrated action and long-term care, mental health, public health, health promotion and disease prevention. The sustainability and governance line includes projects in areas such as sustainable cities, circular economy, governance and participation and territorial equity. Finally, in innovation and inclusive education, topics such as training and literacy, innovation and technology, as well as social inclusion of vulnerable groups are addressed. Watch video

This redefinition of the lines of research aims to adapt to the new challenges of the 21st century, although Polibienestar’s mission remains the same: to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness of public policies through research excellence projects, both national and European. ‘We transfer research to society through the transfer area, through contracts with the public administration, private entities or non-profit organisations,’ said Jorge Garcés, director of Polibienestar and professor in the Department of Social Work and Social Services at the UV.

Polibienestar is a public research institute of international reference that has developed applied interdisciplinary research on economic, social, political and technical sustainability of welfare systems, advising administrations and companies in the design, planning and implementation of resources and social welfare and sustainability policies.
