– Breve descripción del Proyecto:

The project has two main objectives:

1) to advance the theory and practice of gender equality as a fundamental component of democracy in the EU (European Union) and beyond; and

2) To counter the discourses and tactics of certain extremist political and social forces against gender equality and gender equality policies, thus strengthening democracy and spaces for democratic participation in the EU as a whole.

Polibienestar’s participation is concentrated in Work Packages 1 to 3. In particular, Polibienestar is responsible for leading two activities:

1) WP1 – Conceptual Framework: Gender Justice in a New Age of Democracy.

Polibienestar leads activity T.1.3: Review of modern feminist frameworks and their contribution to the understanding of democratic concepts. The activity consists in the selection of some current feminist theories (e.g. ecofeminism) in order to understand how they can influence our understanding of certain basic democratic concepts (freedom, equality, demos, representation, participation, etc.).

2) WP2 – Citizens Views on Gender Equality and Democracy

Polibienestar leads the activity T.2.3 Assessment of social perceptions on feminism, equality policies and democracy through focus groups. The activity consists of designing and conducting focus groups to assess social perceptions on feminism, equality policies and democracy in Spain, Austria, UK and Hungary. This includes the preparation of guidelines and coding tables, recruitment of participants (20 per country), pre-testing, implementation of the focus groups and analysis of the resulting data
