Antonio Santos Ortega

Sociology and Social Anthropology Department

Antonio Santos has got a PhD in Political Sciences and Sociology at Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Before that, he studied at Università degli Studi di Bologna thanks to a grant that was awarded by the Spanish government. In 1989, he began his teaching experience at Universitat de València in the Sociology and Social Anthropology Department, where he currently teaches Sociology of Work and Advanced Research on Labour Sciences.

His research has been published in international journals such as Sociologia del Lavoro, International Review of Sociology/Revue Internationale de Sociologie, orCourrier de la Planète. His contributions to books can be seen in: Industrial Relations and the Environment: Ten Countries Under the Microscope; Youth and Work in the Post-industrial City of North America and Europe; Les jeunes et l’emploi dans les villes d’Amérique du Nord et d’Europe, and Economia informale e istituzioni. Among his publications in Spanish journals are: Política y Sociedad, la Revista Española de Sociología, Revista Internacional de Sociología o Arxius de Ciències Socials y también en revistas especializadas en sus líneas de investigación preferentes: Cuadernos de Relaciones Laborales, Sociología del Trabajo, Revista de Estudios de Juventud, or Apunts de Educació Fisica i Esport.

He is a member of the advisroy council in the journals Cuadernos de Relaciones Laborales, Empiria and Arxius de Ciències Socials. He is the director of the journal Quaderns de Ciències Socials.

Throughout the last years, he has been involved in two lines of research: sociology of labour and sociology of sport.
