He has got a PhD in Law and is a university lecturer at the Department of Labour and Social Security Law. He is also collaborating with the programme of legal studies at Universidad Bolivariana de Venezuela. He was a visiting professor at Universidad Mayor de San Andrés in La Paz, Bolivia. His main research interests are the effects of globalization on social rights, labour rights for indigenous people, disability and employment, employment and ethnic discrimination, prevention of workplace-associated risks, and the transformation of the social security model in Latin American countries. Currently, he coordinates research projects with universities from Bolivia, Chili and Venezuela. He was an advisor for the United Nations in Guatemala. His last book is titled Interculturalidad y derecho del trabajo. Una aproximación a la gestión no discriminatoria de la diversidad cultural en la empresa and it was published by Tirant Lo Blanch in 2009.
