Igor Waltz holds a degree in Social Communication with mention in Journalism (2009) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, a Master’s degree (2015) and a PhD in Communication and Culture (2019) from the same institution. Since 2019, he is part of the research team of the National Institute of Public Communication of Science and Technology (INCT-CPCT) in Brazil.
In addition, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Postgraduate Programme in Biosciences and Health Teaching at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), from 2020 to 2024, with funding from the Research Support Foundation of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Faperj). He has worked as a temporary professor at the Institute of Arts and Social Communication of the Fluminense Federal University (2018) and at the Faculty of Social Communication of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (2019-2021).
Currently, he is a visiting researcher at Polibienestar/University of Valencia. His research interests are scientific and health misinformation, infodemics and public communication of science.
