The Climate Ambassadors Podcast is back with the University of Valencia!

This episode takes us to one of Spain’s most devastating recent climate disasters: the 2024 DANA floods.

What made this extreme weather event so destructive? How was the emergency managed on the ground? And what was it like to experience the disaster as a young person living in one of the affected areas?

To explore these questions, we are joined by two special guests:

⛑️ José María Morán, an expert from the Spanish Social Intervention Group in Emergencies (GISE), sheds light on the emergency response and how assistance was organised during the catastrophe.

🧑‍🎓 Aina Ninyerola Monzó, a Political Science and Public Administration student at the University of Valencia, shares her first-hand experience as a young person born and raised in the affected region.

From crisis response to the voices of those who lived through it, the conversation offers a closer look at what extreme climate events mean and what we can learn from them. 🌍
