On 30 October 2025, the Polibienestar Research Institute of the University of Valencia visited the Associació Pentagrama de Llíria, a leader in supporting people with mental health diagnoses and in building inclusive community spaces.
During the visit, we learned about the important work carried out by the association, which focuses on promoting active participation, comprehensive well-being, and connection with the environment. We were welcomed by a committed team and shared an enriching day that allowed us to get closer to the daily experience of Pentagrama’s users.
Among the spaces we visited, we were able to tour their urban garden, where people find physical, emotional and social benefits thanks to contact with the earth, shared work and the healthy routine that this type of activity provides. We also visited their nursery, a parallel space that complements the horticultural work and reinforces skills related to responsibility, self-care and collective commitment.
Pentagrama is much more than an organisation that offers activities; it is a living community, a network of relationships and support that grows every day thanks to the commitment of its technical team, the efforts of its users and the involvement of volunteers. Among its initiatives, Balconejarte stands out, a project that brings creativity to the balconies of Llíria to raise awareness of mental health in public spaces, as well as Valuarte – Teatro, which uses the performing arts as a way to work on self-esteem, emotional expression and group cohesion. In addition to these projects, there is the Solidarity Shop, a space that promotes the reuse of materials, craftsmanship and responsible consumption with a community and solidarity focus. The association also develops a range of activities aimed at physical and emotional well-being, such as tai chi, aquagym, creative workshops and day trips outside the municipality, which strengthen the bonds between participants and their community.
At Polibienestar, we would like to express our gratitude for the generosity with which they opened their doors to us and for the lessons we learned after getting a close-up view of a committed and transformative experience. Through its daily work, Pentagrama demonstrates that it is possible to build community based on empathy, dignity and mutual care.
