  • 25/11/2022

On 29th November, the Research Institute of Social Welfare Policy -Polibienestar- of the University of Valencia, will participate in the seminar “Social Welfare Policies in the European Union: Innovation and sustainability through socio-technical research”.
In this seminar, which will take place at the headquarters of the European Parliament in Brussels, will be presented innovative and oriented interdisciplinary research solutions to address the new European social challenges arising from the research of excellence led by Polibienestar, through its 100 European projects achieved in the last 10 years. The seminar aims to promote social science research among European universities as well as the training and promotion of young researchers with a gender perspective. It will also analyse the implication of technology in the future of European public welfare policies from a socio-technical perspective, addressing aspects such as the promotion of mental health and access to psychological treatments in Europe, scientific communication in health and social marketing in European public policies, comprehensive long-term care in vulnerable populations, urban ecological strategies that favour sustainability and inclusion, and the importance of resilience in European labour markets.
Polibienestar is a public institute belonging to the Universitat de València, whose mission is to promote social welfare and quality of life in the European population; it is directed by Jorge Garcés, professor of Social Policy at the UV, who also held the position of advisor for Education and Universities to the OECD, Unesco and the Council of Europe until February 2022 in Paris. He was recently awarded an honorary doctorate by the Universidad Politècnica de València.
