On September 13, 14, and 15, the 13th Interdisciplinary Conference on aging and social change took place in Ancona, Italy.
The design presented at the conference considers a catalog of in-person and online activities. In it, older people can find various activities such as physical exercises, cognitive stimulation and leisure, both in person organized in their community and online through the app for those who, due to physical or time impediments, cannot travel.
Almost a hundred researchers from the continents of Asia, America, Africa and Europe attended the conference with the purpose of sharing their most recent research in the field of active and healthy aging.
Sandra Martínez, representing the Polibienestar Research Institute of the University of Valencia, presented the innovative European project funded by the Erasmus “e-Active” program in the open session on Social Change.
E-Active is a pioneering project that aims to promote active aging of people over 60 years of age in their community through a free mobile application that is easy to access and use. This application has been developed by a multidisciplinary team from five countries, Spain, Italy, Poland, Greece, and Bulgaria, who have taken the needs, interests and abilities of older people as a starting point.
In the next phase of the project, the prototype will be tested with a total of 30 older people from Italy, Poland, and Bulgaria. The results obtained in the testing phase will serve to redefine the activities of the application, as well as its structure and design so that our elderly enjoy a greater state of health and quality of life.
The application and all products developed within the framework of the e-Active project are freely accessible and available on the project website: https://e-active.eu/
