Jorge Luis Costafreda Mustelier got his degree at Universidad de Moa in Cuba and his Phd at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Since 2015 he works as an Ad Honorem professor at Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Minas y Energía at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
He has taken part of more than 23 research projects about exploration of rocks and industrial minerals. He has also taught and given lectures in many countries such as Ecuador, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chili, Cuba and Equatorial Guinea, and at some Spanish universities such as Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha.
He has published more than 40 papers related to natural zeolites, aggregates, pozzolana and metallic mineral resources.
